Amla

It is known as Indian Gooseberry in Hindi. The tree reaches from 3’3’’ to 26’3’’ in height. Amla is a deciduous tree, the leaves are a simple light green that resembles pinnate leaves. The flowers are greenish yellow. It has spherical fruit, light greenish-yellow, smooth and hard on appearance, with six vertical stripes or furrows. It tastes sour, bitter and astringent, and fibrous too. The fruit is used raw or cooked into various dishes, like Murabba. It can be consumed after meals too. It has medicinal benefits, and is also commonly used in inks, shampoos and hair oils. The Fruits contain high amounts of Vitamin C.
